Rail loop

Since acquiring the Mine, the investors built an entirely new infrastructure and transformed the site into a world-class mining complex, including a wash plant rated at 2,000 tons per hour, a rail loop designed to hold up to 150 car unit trains, and a batch weigh-bin rail loading facility that can load a 130 car unit train in about 2 hours.

With over 300 million raw tons of recoverable underground reserves, Signal Peak is Montana’s only underground coal mine and has a production capacity of approximately 8 million clean tonnes per year. The Mine recovers coal using underground continuous mining and longwall mining equipment. Coal is mined from panels that average 1250 feet wide (~400 meters) by 22,000 feet long (~7000 meters).
